Saving your miles

Save your airline miles

If you have frequent flyer miles make sure that some regular activity is done on your account so that they wont expire. Most of the frequent flyer miles expire in 18 months if there is no activity. Activity could be anything like flying on that airline(or partners), using credit cards tied to those accounts, redeeming miles for flying, magazine subscription, etc.

There is one other easier and faster way to add activity to your account and also be part of a good cause. Donate portion of your miles (some airlines allow as little as 250 miles) and the activity normally posts the same day. Delta is one of the airlines that has the minimum donation of 5000 miles and also has long posting delay so please check with airlines.

Use your gifts

Got any gift cards?

Now a days it's very common to receive gift cards for various occasions. If you got cards try to use it sooner than later. Just today, Sharper Image (Full Story) announced that it will no longer honor their own gift cards. Though this could be temporary (according to the company) you will never know the future of these gift cards.
